34th Sunday in
Ordinary Time
November 20, 2016
Jesus’ kingdom is not of this world.
In the Gospel, Jesus is mocked on the cross, even by
those crucified with Him. The good thief is aware that
they have condemned an innocent man, undeserving of
the most cruel punishment to which he was subjected.
This thief, known in history as Dismas, is also well aware
that he is in the presence of his Lord, Saviour and king.
His faith motivates his dying wish: Jesus, remember me
when you come into your kingdom. There on Calvary, as
darkness covered the earth and all hope seemed lost, a
convicted sinner professed his faith – that Jesus would
live again and forever, that he alone had the power to
forgive and to grant new life, but most importantly, that
his kingship would reign in this world and in the next.
Let us pray that in the darkest moments of our life, when
we find ourselves like the Good Thief – up against
adversity, on the cross, persecuted, left behind – that we,
like him, will trust in the Lord who is our friend, confidant
and our king. He will set us free and remind us that one
day we, too, will be with Him in paradise.

Con questa domenica si apre l’ultima settimana del Tempo
Ordinario e dell’Anno Liturgico. Cristo ci viene presentato
come Re e Signore, ma il suo trono non e’ in una sala
adorna di ogni piu’ bel mobile di legno pregiato e le sue
tuniche non sono ricolme di gioielli: il suo trono e’ una croce
e il suo scettro e’ una corona di spine! Quanta divergenza
c’e’ fra i nostri canoni e quelli di Dio, anche se sono questi
ultimi a condurci alla salvezza.
Christmas Bazaar & Spaghetti Lunch: Thank you to
everyone who helped at our Christmas Bazaar. Your
efforts and generosity are appreciated. We raised

First Communicants 2017 Initiation Ceremony:
We will be introducing our First Communicants 2017 to
the congregation on November 27th at the 9:00 a.m. mass.
Let us pray for these children who will be preparing all
year to receive Jesus into their hearts.

Senior Men’s High School Retreat (Grades 11 & 12)
The Office of Vocations is hosting a day retreat at St.
Joseph’s Parish, Mississauga on Saturday, December 3,
2016 (from 9am to 5pm). Provides a time to pray,
interact and socialize. Priests and Seminarians will
deliver talks on practical aspects of faith.
Offers opportunities for Mass, Adoration and Confession.

Family of Faith Campaign. We thank
you for your generous support! As of
now, we have collected $164,921. Please ensure your
pledges are fulfilled in order for Holy Angels to collect
our parish share.

Year of Mercy: We give thanks to God for this Jubilee
of Mercy and for all of the graces and blessings we have
received as the Year of Mercy draws to a close on
November 20th. May the prayers and the actions we have
engaged in make us stronger in faith and more committed
to be agents of God’s mercy and grace in a broken and
hurting world.
