Siena, 23 November 2016 – Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena S.p.A. (the "Bank") announces that
the Bank has received today authorization from the European Central Bank (ECB) in relation to the
transaction announced to the market on 25 October.
Furthermore Bank of Italy has notified that it has successfully completed its assessment procedure,
in accordance with Article 56 of the Italian Unified Banking Act, regarding the changes to the ByLaws for the purposes of the transaction.
The authorizations referred to above relate solely to the overall transaction already announced to
the market by the Bank.
