Venu de l’animation, Cyril Pedrosa est révélé par Trois Ombres, un récit graphique
sensible et poétique publié en 2007. Mais c’est avec Portugal publié en 2011
dans la collection Aire Libre des éditions Dupuis qu’il s’imposera définitivement
comme l’un des grands auteurs français de la bande dessinée. Au moment où Aire
Libre publie son tout nouveau roman graphique intitulé Les Équinoxes, la galerie
Champaka Bruxelles accueille les originaux de cet auteur qui conçoit le dessin
comme une écriture. Derrière un trait toujours épris de liberté, on découvre des
cadrages d’une grande rigueur, un sens du rythme, une appropriation personnelle
des codes de la couleur. Et une manière unique d’approcher l’indicible, de raconter
la condition humaine par le dessin.
Cyril Pedrosa kwam uit de tekenfilmwereld en liet zich opmerken door Trois Ombres,
een gevoelig, poëtisch, grafisch verhaal gepubliceerd in 2007. Met het verschijnen
van Portugal in 2011 in de collectie Vrije Vlucht van uitgeverij Dupuis manifesteerde
hij zich voorgoed als een van de grote Franse auteurs van het stripverhaal. Op
het moment waarop Vrije Vlucht zijn gloednieuwe grafische roman Les Equinoxes
publiceert, brengt galerij Champaka Brussel de originelen van deze auteur die
tekenen als een soort schrift ziet. Achter zijn lijnen, die steeds bezeten lijken van
vrijheid, ontdekt men een erg strakke compositie, een gevoel voor ritme, een erg
persoonlijk gebruik van kleurcodes. En een unieke manier om het onzegbare te
benaderen, om het menselijke bestaan in tekeningen te vatten.

Coming from animation, Cyril Pedrosa was first noticed for Three Shadows, a
sensitive and poetic graphic novel published in 2007. And with Portugal published
in 2011 in the Aire Libre collection from Dupuis he firmly established himself as
one of the great French writers of comics. To coincide with Aire Libre publishing his
new graphic novel entitled Les Équinoxes, the Champaka Brussels gallery hosts the
original artworks by this author, who conceives his drawing as writing. Behind a line
that always seems to relish freedom, we discover truly rigorous framing, a sense
of rhythm, a personal appropriation of the rules of colouring. And a unique way of
approaching the inexpressi-ble, to express the human condition in drawing.
