ASSESSING THE PUBLIC
ENGAGEMENT PROCESS
HEV COURSE 401
1
The Tools We Will Explore Today
 Summary assessment of public engagement
process has 4 elements:
 Who Participated
 Performance Indicators
 Information Handoffs
 “View from the Trenches”
2
Who Participated
 Assemble and summarize “Public
engagement sign-in sheets” (HEV 102)
 Sign-in sheets from early planning phases may
be copies, since those early meetings would
eventually result in multiple implementation
plans
 Assess participation data on MnDOT
Representatives and General Public separately
3

 Assemble and summarize “Public
engagement sign-in sheets” (HEV 102)
 Examine for trends over time (in numbers, in
diversity, in representativeness)
 Append copies of sign-in sheets to final
participation report (to facilitate follow-up
contacts with participants, should it be
needed)
