 Another language enables you to work, live and travel
in another country.
 Many career choices are only open to you if you have
another language.
 For many graduate programs, a second language is
required.

creativity!
A minor in a language complements any major and
will stand out on your transcript.
It will make you competitive internationally, since
students outside of North America usually have more
than one language.
Finish what you started!
Minors are available in:
• German Studies
• Hispanic Studies
• Italian
• Indigenous Studies
• Spanish and Latin American Studies
• World Language Studies
• Linguistics

Studies (LANG)
Consists of 30.0 units

You need:
At least two languages other than
English
6.0 units in a language at 300-level
6.0 units in a language at 200-level
12.0 units in languages at any level
Choose from thirteen languages offered
at Queen’s!
Suggested progress:
In year one you take:
6.0 units in LANG 1 at 100-level i.e.
Spanish, German, Chinese, French, Latin
In year two you take:
6.0 units in LANG 1 at 200-level
In year three you take:
 6.0 units in LANG 1 at 300-level and
Up to 6.0 units in LANG 2 at 100-level
i.e. Arabic, Hebrew, Japanese, Italian
In year four you take:
 Up to 6.0 units in LANG 2 at 200level
During any of the four years of your
program, you can take up to TWO of the
concept (option) courses (in English).
Any LLCU course counts as an option

Painting, Cinema and Photography
LING 100/6.0: Introduction to Linguistics
PSYC 321/3.0: Psycholinguistics
