CCA 4 Year Planning

When you want to start creating a plan, remember…     Include all courses required to graduate eligibility. and for college Be challenged but not overwhelmed.

There is no universal plan. It should be unique to you and your goals. You can research various colleges and careers using Naviance and the college websites to find out exactly what is required and recommended for admission. The plan should be considered tentative and can be revised at any time.

SDUHSD Graduation Requirements

University of California/California State University A – G Requirements  A. History/Social Science 2 YEARS REQUIRED Two years of history/social science, including one year of world history, cultures and geography; and one year of U.S. history or one-half year of U.S. history and one-half year of civics or American government.  B. English 4 YEARS REQUIRED Four years of college-preparatory English that include frequent and regular writing, and reading of classic and modern literature.  C. Mathematics 3 YEARS REQUIRED, 4 YEARS RECOMMENDED Three years of college-preparatory mathematics that include the topics covered in elementary and advanced algebra and two- and three-dimensional geometry. Must Complete through Algebra 2.  D. Laboratory Science 2 YEARS REQUIRED, 3 YEARS RECOMMENDED Two years of laboratory science providing fundamental knowledge in at least two of these three foundational subjects: biology, chemistry and physics.  E. Language Other than English 2 YEARS REQUIRED, 3 YEARS RECOMMENDED Two years of the same language other than English.  F. Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) 1 YEAR REQUIRED A single year-long approved arts course from a single VPA discipline: dance, drama/theater, music or visual art.

G. College-Preparatory Elective 1 YEAR REQUIRED One year (two semesters), in addition to those required in "a-f" above, chosen from the following areas: visual and performing arts (non-introductory level courses), history, social science, English, advanced mathematics, laboratory science and language other than English (a third year in the language used for the "e" requirement or two years of another language).

Private and out-of state colleges have similar requirements, you can use Naviance to research specific colleges.

English 9 or English 9 Honors English 10 or English 10 Honors English 11 or AP English Language English 12 or Ap English Literature

Math Options

College-Prep Math Course Sequence Students should have a C test average or better to proceed to the next course, otherwise it is suggested that they repeat the course.

Honors Math Course Sequence Students should have an A or B TEST average to proceed to the next honors course, otherwise it is suggested that students take the appropriate college-prep course.
