Why a MSc in Commissioning
• Commissioners face the challenge of transforming
/integrating services to deliver high quality with an ever
decreasing level of real resources and increasing
demand

Commissioners require support in their personal and
professional development to meet these challenges
• A MSc qualification is recognised by both students and
employers as the Gold standard vocational qualification
MSc Commissioning - How
MSc is delivered in four taught modules :
• Theories and Models of Commissioning
• Applied Commissioning
• Market Shaping and Mapping
• Leading and Delivering Quality through Commissioning
Together with 2 Work Based Learning Modules and a final
dissertation to gain the award of an MSc.
MSc Commissioning - Who
Since the inception of the MSc Course 32 students have participated in
the MSc Commissioning programme and have come from a wide range
of backgrounds including :
• CCGs
• L.A. Adult and Children’s
• Public Health
• Voluntary Sector Providers
• Nurse Managers
• Social Housing providers
• Commissioning Support units /Joint Commissioning Units
Meeting the needs of students and
employers
The focus of the course is to provide students with the skills
and knowledge to succeed by:
• Taught sessions delivered by leading practioners
• Student assignments based on work based challenges
• Work based module and dissertation topics agreed with
employers, student and academic module leader
• Students can register for Individual Modules ,
Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or MSc.
Practicalities
• Taught sessions (half day ) held on Thursday
Afternoons at the Wolverhampton City Campus
• MSc is awarded after one year full time or two
years part time study
• Applications now open for October 2015 cohort

organisational and individual staff member level
• Tailored programme and Master classes
delivered to meet organisational and individual
needs
