SPOTLIGHT ON GOAL
December 4, 2015
Last Call,
Mock Trial.
We will have five meetings after school throughout December
and at the beginning of January. Attendance at the meetings is
required for participation in this event.
The actual event will take place on:
January 6th at Duquesne University.
(Snow date is January 7th)

run by the Carnegie Mellon
School of Computer Science for
local area high school students.
Students LEAP ahead ten years
in their understanding as they
are exposed to the frontiers of
computer science research.
Students interact with notable
scientists, visit cool, leadingedge local companies and dive
into their own projects.
They emerge with a vivid
overview of Computer Science
at Carnegie Mellon!

Conservation Ambassador!
The Wildlife Leadership Academy enriches Pennsylvania teens and
empowers them to become certified Conservation Ambassadors through
attending one of the 5-day residential summer field schools: white-tailed deer,
brook trout, ruffed grouse, and black bear.
Students gain extensive knowledge about wildlife and conservation, leadership
experience, and communication skills.
Learn how to think like a Vet while exploring this exciting
career.
This exclusive behind-the-scenes experience includes :
❖ Touring the National Aviary’s Avian Hospital
❖ Meeting with our veterinary team and participating in a
Meet A Patient program.
❖ Don scrubs and gloves as you perform a necropsy like a
veterianarian. Student will work in team with a real
specimen, following the directions of our skilled
instructors.
Date: We are hoping to visit the Aviary in early January
but are waiting for confirmation on the date of the visit. A
remind message/email will be sent out and a sign will be
posted at the GOAL office

The First GOAL T-Shirt Design
Contest
We want to have a “GOAL” T-shirt!
Something unique, creative, quirky, ….. you design and decide!
Competition Rules:
● Entries should be received no later than Wednesday 23th Dec 2015.
● Entries should be emailed to: [email protected] or
[email protected]
● By submitting an entry, a competitor agrees that his/her entries may
be used on the 2015-2016 T-Shirts and waives any claims of royalty,
right or remuneration for such use.
● Designs will be revealed in Jan & GOAL students will vote!
● The judges' decisions are final.
● The competition is open to all NAI GOAL students.

Duquesne University Academic Challenge
➢ April 3, 2015 in College Hall on the Duquesne University
Campus
❖ This competition will consist of eight round focusing on
Math, Science, Art, Music, Literature, World History, US
History, Current Events and Potpourri.
❖ Preliminary rounds will consist of thirty (30) questions
❖ The Quarterfinal and Semifinal rounds will consist of forty
(40) questions from all competition categories
❖ The championship game will consist of fifty (50) questions
from all categories.
❖ Prizes will be awarded to the top two finishers.
Scholarships are available to students who select to
attend Duquesne University. All participants will receive a
tee-shirt

School of Medicine and provides participants with experiences
and information about careers in medicine
