COOPERATION WITH NBS
Ramesh Kolli
Additional Director General
Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation
1
Formal cooperation
• The CSO, India and NBS, China have no formal
cooperation agreements
• NBS activities are much more broader as compared to the
activities of CSO
• NBS activities cut across several offices in India
• CSO is largely a coordinating body in a decentralised
statistical system, with the responsibility to compile
national accounts, price indices and production index and
establishing standards
• Delegations from NBS regularly visit their counterpart
offices in India
• Since the cooperation activities are not centralised, there is
no central database on the exchange of visits and topics of
discussions
