MSITS revision progress
May 2006 – July 2006 Worldwide consultation period on scope of update and issues to be
included.
August 2006 to January 2007 TFSITS to review worldwide consultation responses on
updating MSITS
October 2006 to September 2007 Commence drafting of chapter on modes and updating of
other chapters. January 2007 TFSITS discusses strategy and some initial drafts for updating
MSITS.
Spring - summer 2007 drafts revised and extended
Consultation with OECD-Eurostat Expert meeting September 2007

MSITS revision approximate timetable

September 2007 – April 2008 TFSITS to agree main proposals for changes and complete
draft of the main text of revised MSITS; and as far as possible revise concordances.
Summer 2008 Worldwide consultation on complete draft of main text of revised MSITS.
Throughout 2008 Consultations with Expert Groups including OECD-Eurostat expert group
September – December 2008 TFSITS to review comments and draft final submission to UN
Statistical Commission March 2009
2009 Produce MSITS publication
