Key Components of a Financial Aid Award Letter:
Overall cost of attendance for full-time enrollment: tuition and fees, housing
and meals, books and supplies, transportation, etc.
Grants & Scholarships received (free money - no repayment needed)
Remaining costs after grants & scholarships have been applied
Options to pay remaining balance
Work study
Loan options: Perkins, Subsidized & Unsubsidized
College Planning Timelines
Key Components to Junior Year Timeline:
Fall/Winter: Take the PSAT, research colleges, make a prospective list, request materials,
attend fairs, study for SAT
Spring: Complete the FAFSA4caster, know admissions requirements for schools on your list,
know application deadlines, visit colleges, take the SAT/SAT subject tests
Summer: research scholarships
Key Components to Senior Year Timeline:
Fall: Retake SAT if necessary (Oct), complete the FAFSA (Oct), work on admission applications,
research and apply for scholarships
Winter: Complete OSAC scholarship application, research and apply for scholarships
Homework
- Due Friday, May 6th
1. Opportunities Booklet: Read pgs 26-38.
2. Select one of the four personal statement questions from the OSAC
scholarship application. In a Google doc, answer the question to the
specifications outlined on the scholarship application. Share it with me:

Activities Chart and fill it in with the information from the completed
