Eligibility Requirements
Must be a Full-Time student at LAGCC. Or a PartTime student with 45 credits or more.
Must hold a 2.0 GPA minimum
U.S. Citizens & Residents must have a FAFSA on file.
International students are also eligible. (Must
complete a needs assessment)
Application Process
Students must complete an online application. (www.laguardia.edu/scholarships)
Must submit evidence to determine level of need. FAFSA is a major source, but
other documentation may be requested by Student Financial Services.
Must complete personal statement (200 word minimum) explaining why the student
needs the Foundation Scholarship. The inclusion of student background is very
relevant.

$500 + per academic year
Scholarships vary. Awards are determined based on
unmet need.
How many students receive
Foundation Scholarship?
2015-2016 year awarded approximately 600
applicants!
Application Dates
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Priority is given to students who apply from
April 1 to August 31 for the upcoming year.
Award Dates
Receiving an award might take a few months
depending on application dates. The verification
process might crossover into the semester,
which means that the award date might be
during the semester.
Emergency Fund
The Emergency Fund provides aid to students
who have an unexpected short-term hardships.
Tuition, transportation and textbook expenses are
some grievances that the emergency fund
addresses.
This application process is different. Students
must go to E-508 (Development Department) to
inquire.
Foundation Scholarship Application Tips
● Be aware of tuition due dates.
● Keep in mind that it might take a few months to hear back
from Foundation Scholarship.
● Complete your FAFSA/ Needs Assessment
