CYLINDERS
Drawing Cylinders
Here are some common mistakes to avoid
when drawing cylinders:
1. Outer edges too pointed
2. Front and back edges too flat
3. Ellipse too full
4. Top ellipse and bottom ellipses should not
match. Ellipses flatten close to eye level.
The shape of the ellipses
(circles in perspective)
change as they change
position in according to the
eye level.

DRAWING A CYLINDER
THAT IS UP RIGHT
USING ONE-POINT
Draw your box for your
cylinder in the same
proportions as your
cylinder and from the
correct position to the
eye level.
Draw the ellipses at the
top and bottom.
Draw the sides of your
shape.
DRAWING A TWO-POINT CYLINDER
Drawing a cylinder shape on its side requires using two-point
perspective. You draw a two-point box in which you draw your
cylinder. You have to establish the eye level and correct proportions
as you did in the one-point cylinder drawing.
