BOR FOCUS: ATLAS Program Features
The Awards to Louisiana Artists and Scholars (ATLAS) Program
supports faculty in arts, humanities, and social sciences disciplines.
The emphasis is on the completion of substantive works, such as
major fine art exhibitions, significant works of fiction, poetry, film,
and drama, and scholarly monographs.
Projects are assessed based on their necessity, importance,
originality, and likelihood to have an impact on a broad academic
and/or artistic community.
Mandatory Letters of Intent are due in October. Full proposals are
due in November. Check the RFP for specific dates and time.
BOR FOCUS: ATLAS Funding Considerations
Funding cannot exceed $50,000 over a one-year period. A
proposal from multiple eligible faculty for a single cohesive project
may request support of not more than $50,000 per participating
faculty member.
Salary may not exceed 50% of the applicant’s AY salary and fringe,
and leave (typically sabbatical) equivalent to the salary requested
from BOR must be guaranteed by the institution.
Funds can be used for student assistants, publication costs,
research travel, equipment, travel related to presentations of
ATLAS-funded work and for out-of-state consultants to travel to
Louisiana to assist in project work.
