Organisation of work for Session 9 Strategy and roadmap Ivo Havinga United Nations Statistics Division Structure • Preparatory work for Statistical Commission 2011 • Strategy and roadmap - package of recommendations • Time management Preparatory work for Statistical Commission 2011 Till January 2011 • Confirmation of commitment by countries to actively participate in selected expert groups, preferably in writing • Drafting of SG Report on Short term Economic Statistics (by end November) • based on agreed program of work for proposed expert groups (Flash GDP, Composite indicators, Business tendency surveys, Data template and analytical indictors • Drafting of background document to SG report on outcomes based on Ottawa, Scheveningen and Moscow seminar (by end December) Strategy and roadmap • SG report will present a package of recommendations including • implementation of work program for three expert groups in 2010 and 2011 normative work on selected handbooks • national and international consultation in 2011 on the implementation program for short term statistics organized around an internationally acceptable data template of HFI Strategy and roadmap • SG report to UNSC 2011 will present a package of recommendations including • Conference on program of work for short term economic statistics in October/November 2011 on the progress of the work of three expert groups and national and international consultation • SG report to Statistical Commission in 2012 Time management • Plenary discussion on proposed strategy and roadmap for the package of recommendations to UNSC 2011 • Keep interventions short to allow a broad hearing of the participants • Focus on assessment of support of the package of recommendations from national and international perspective Written comments welcome • Address to [email protected] reference UNSC 2011 Short term economic statistics Thank you.
