Reading updates
This week we will be starting ort reading workshop.
We talk about how to pick the just right book.
Please read 20 minutes each night. This will be
part of their homework weekly.
This week students will bring home a reading folder
and keep track of their minutes. Students turn them
in on Fridays for the minutes to be recorded .
Math updates
This week the students are working on
number sense.
● Counting to 1,000
● counting by 2, 5, 10,
● addition and subtraction facts
● problem solving
Home work will be practicing addition facts.
I have listed some web sites to use below.
Writing updates
The students are enjoying writing. Each day they
have a writing activity. Some days it is just writing
their thoughts in a journal and other days they
might reflect on a book we have read. We have
started writers workshop . I model examples and
we discuss all types of writing. This we are
discussing what makes a good friend They will write
about their friends and what characteristics make
e a good friend.

Parents only
Thursday, September 18- Progress Reports go home.
Thursday, September 25- Collaboration Day. School
begins at 10:40.
Phonics assessment
This week we will be working on
short vowel sounds A E I O U. The
students will write their words in
the agenda. An assessment will be
given on Friday over those words
and a few words that the same
phonic rules uses. We do activities
in class to practice , but they also
need to study these at home also.
 Technology update
I have attached a list of math websites
that student can practice their addition
facts.
