INTRODUCTION
The importance of civil registration and vital statistics
system in Lesotho had been greatly undermined less
to mention that its administration was also very
fragmented. The statistics from the few registered vital
events was rarely if ever compiled. The system was
given poor political recognition though it has been
acknowledged as a tool essential for the development
of millennium goals.
