What do we want to achieve
in 2014?

A clear understanding that 'research improves
clinical outcomes' and also improves the visibility
of research as a core clinical activity.


proposals and grant capture (income!)


How to build research capacity
in the NHS?







Working with leaders to operationalise the strategy
Identifying the research active staff
Clarify the research process
Ensure that research active staff can navigate the
systems
Build collaborative bidding teams and focus on
grant capture
Use experience (AHP PI's) across the region
Ensure organisational rewards and incentives are
in place

•2 Commercial studies planned to go ahead (one portfolio)
•CSP bid for pulmonary hypertension with SHU
•CAPACITY
We have identified 52 staff engaged in specific clinical or health
service research (not including audit or service evaluation) funded by
external bodies
• 8 staff identified who wish to go forward with Clinical Fellowships.
• Dementia research forum bidding to Dunhill Trust in October
•Neuro-rehabilitation research forum including clinical and academic
staff planning 2 bids
•
