The Foundation
• UW-Madison had the dairy futures
website
~ Initially developed in the 1990’s
• RMA grant to promote the “new” dairy futures
and options contracts
~ Data and graphics were in spreadsheets
~ Some updating was automated, some
wasn’t
~ Data requirements had outgrown the
system
What the Projects Entailed
• A total “makeover” of the website
~ Data moved into relational database files
~ File updates were totally automated
~ Enhanced graphing capabilities were added
~ On-line learning modules are available and
being added to
~ Industry related publications are on-line
~ Various analysis tools are on-line
