Regular –ER and –IR Preterite verbs
Regular verbs ending in –er and –ir have the
same endings in the Preterite tense. To
conjugate these verbs, drop the infinitive
ending and add:
yo -í
nosotros -imos
tú -iste
vosotros -isteis
él / ella / Ud -ió
ellos / Uds -ieron
*** Notice the accents in the ‘yo’ and the ‘él /
ella / Ud’ forms !!
COMER – to eat
yo
comí
nosotros
comimos
tú
comiste
vosotros
comisteis
él / ella / Ud comió
ellos / Uds comieron
VIVIR – to live
yo
viví
nosotros
vivimos
tú
viviste
vosotros
vivisteis
él / ella / Ud
vivió
