Two Third Tone Sandhi
in Mandarin Chinese

Introduction
The most obvious changes happen in
Mandarin tone of voice changes in the two
linked three acoustic sound words.
The earliest literature which has pointed
out that two of the three acoustic sound
and modulation are the same.
How: This study will use questionnaires to text subjects, then
analysis their data.

Research Question
1. What the differences between higher
and lower educational participants in
speaking ?
2. Whether the participants can read aloud
the sandhi of three tone automatically
without reminder?
Methodology
Subjects: Ten middle age participants,
two male and eight female.
Instruments: Questionnaires paper, cell
phone (Sony Ericsson K810i)
Experiments: (reading list, text, etc.)
Procedure
The method to carry out this study is to interview
ten middle age participants
The data which include different genders, ages,
and different experiences of each educational
background.
Old age persons couldn’t recognize the words in
questionnaire and some of them would feel shy
when noticed ready to be investigate, even
some of participants couldn’t speak in Mandarin.

Through the data analysis it shows more
higher education the phenomenon of
sandhi will more specific.
