What is a case ?
• A case can be an individual (one
person or thing); such as a school or
a factory (company)).
• it can be a group; such as a family ,
or a class, or an office.
What is a case study?
• A case study is one which investigate
(discover: find out what happened) to
answer specific (refer to the problem)
research questions and which seeks (find
out) a range( a number of different things)
of different kinds of evidence (is
everything you see, experience, read or
are told that causes you to believe that
something is true or has really happened).
What is a case study?
The use of many sources of evidence,
each with its strengths and
weaknesses, is a key of case study
research.
In general, case studies are preferred
(like) strategy (planning) when “how”
or “why” questions are posed and
more focus on the real-life situation .

• The aim is case study analysis is
usually to pretend that you are a
consultant ( is a person who gives
expert advice to a person or a
organization on a particular (special)
subject) (or manager) with a special
business problem that you need to
solve.

Case study analysis is a response (reply)
by you (as the manager or consultant)
to the situation in a company and your
recommendations (suggestions) to
overcoming( a problem or a feeling ,you
successfully deal with it and control it)
the problems.

They provide organizational problems
that you probably have not
experienced but may need to solve
when you begin working in a real
company.

They provide a situation in which you can
identify (someone or something ,you
name them or say who or what they are )
and solve problems by applying
(something or apply your mind to
something, you concentrate hard on doing
it or on thinking about it) the knowledge
gained during the course.

They are a good focus for discussing
(if people discuss something, they
talk about it, often in order to reach
a decision) ideas in class . You have
to present your solutions to the case
in class and argue (discuss) for them.

environment , it is very suitable for
intending (be going to) managers
and future CEOs.

therefore most case study analyses
are done as group-work.
