• CAB!
– Compressions 1st!
• Except newborn babies
– Airway
– Breathing
– Only applies to CPR
• Be aware of ONE exception.. Neonate!
– A-B-C!!!!
– AND A 3:1 COMPRESSION TO VENTILATION RATIO!!
No more look listen feel..
• Unresponsive- get help (911) and get an AED.
• look for breathing or signs of life..
• Check a pulse
– If no pulse, start compressions
• 30:2 adult and single rescuer child
• 15:2 two person child/infant
– Push hard and fast
– 100 compressions minimum
• Adult at least 2 inches
• Child at least 1/3 of chest or about 2 inches
• Infant at least 1/3 of chest or 1 ½ inches

Proper Form
• How do you find the correct hand placement?
– Adult
– Child
– Infant
• What does proper recoil look like?
• Maximum time without compressions?
Breathing
• 2 breathes or BVM
• If Advanced airway is placed
– One breath every 6-8 seconds…
– (yes this seems like for ever)
• If pulse and NOT breathing.. 6-8 seconds..

AED
• Stop compressions when analyzing
• Start compressions when AED is charging
• Children 1-8
– Use pedi pads or available pads
– NEONATES NEED MANUAL DEFIBRILATION!

• Team Work!
– Remember, this is team work!
– One leader, one crew, all working together
• Communicate!
– Rotate compressions and airway
• Compressions will wear you out in 2 cycles
