Questions and Answers regarding Special Olympics

Who Qualifies?
•Intellectual Disabilities
•Closely related development disability, which means having
functional limitations in both general learning and in adaptive skills
such as recreation, work, independent living, self direction, or self
care.
What does each Athlete
need?


Athletes should be training now
 February 19 – Zumbathon fundraiser at Denton High School – see flyer
 March 10 – Keller Meet




Parents are responsible for getting their athletes to the bus.

We will meet at 7:30 am in the parking lot of the First Baptist Church in Denton.

We will be in Keller at 9:00 am. The meet is scheduled for 9:30 am-1:30pm.

Athletes need to bring a sack lunch, water, and snacks.

Parents will pick up their athlete at the end of the day. We should arrive back around
3:00 pm.
March 24 – Denton Meet – A Day of Champions

Regular school day transportation

Meet is scheduled from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The schools will transport athletes to Guyer High School.
April 8-9 – Area Meet in Arlington

Parents will be responsible for transportation to and from the area meet. More details
later.
Athletic Events Available

Track: 400 M run and walk, relays, 200M, 100M runs and
walks, 50 M runs and walks, 50 M motorized slalom, 25 M
walk, 25 M assisted walk, 25 M wheelchair, 10 M assisted
walk, 10 M wheelchair

Field: softball throw, tennis ball throw for distance, shot
put, running long jump, standing long jump, and mini jav
(turbo jav)


February 15 – entry forms due to me

February 15 – athlete medical forms due to me

Dr. Wilson will give the opening remarks

I have 2 canopies and 1 tent

Northstar Bank will provide food for athletes, coaches,
and volunteers.
