Studying Abroad in
Australia
By: Maria Gallagher
Bond University
• Bond University is situated in the Gold Coast, very close to
some of the most beautiful beaches in Australia. Surfers
Paradise is a 20 minute bus ride and during Orientation week
there were multiple opportunities for Surf Lessons!
• The school is very small, which is different from Northeastern
but it was great to go to a small school for a short period of
time and see the differences. The classes were very intimate
and the teachers were all engaging. I took fascinating classes
and feel that what I learned transfers extremely well into what
I’ve learned at past semesters at Northeastern.

Traveling While Abroad
• One incredible part about being in a completely new
continent is that every new place you see is an adventure.
Whether it is a beach 5 minutes from campus or the Great
Barrier Reef, there is always something new to see. These are
some of my favorite places so far!

Meeting New People
• Making friends while abroad is a piece of cake. Almost
everyone is in the same boat and wants to learn about new
cultures and ways of life. I’ve met people from all over the
world. A perk of making friends from all over is that you have
a couch to crash on during your next traveling adventures.
