Implications for Service

Moving Hold and Recall Life to the policy level
enables customization of these settings per
Policy Group.

Moving Hold Shelf Life to the matrix level allows
libraries to maximize usage of their collections—
e.g., “high-use” items.
Hold Shelf Life: Expanded
Options



Hold Shelf Life can now be calculated in hours
and minutes.
This can match more closely an item’s loan
period—e.g. items on Reserve with an hourly
loan period can have an hourly Hold Shelf Life.
In Patron Request Information dialog box, the
expiration column now includes time along with
the date.
Upgrade Note: Hold Shelf Life

On upgrade, the current Hold Shelf Life is
replicated to every matrix in the Circ Policy.
Libraries may adjust POST UPGRADE.
Upgrade Note: Hold Life
On upgrade, the current Hold Life setting is
replicated to each Circ Happening Location for
each Policy.
 Because in 2001.2 the Hold Life setting had little
effect on circulation workflow, many libraries had
this setting at ‘0’ [Zero]. After upgrade, UB WILL
NOT WORK with settings less than one. Reset
this to CARLI recommendations PRIOR TO
UPGRADE. See:
