Steps to creating a hybrid
outline/ rough draft
1. Label the topic of each note card.
 2. See which three (3) note card topics
you have a majority of cards on. (These
will correspond with the Roman numerals
on the project sheet).
 3. Those 3 topics become your 3 main
points. They must be written in Full
sentences.
 4. Follow the outline format.


Grabber and lead-in to the
 Thesis
 Main point 1

 Main point 3

Body Paragraph 1
State the main point
 Provide at least 3 details to support the
main point
 The last sentence should explain how this
main point proves the thesis statement.

Body Paragraphs 2-3
State the main point
 Provide at least 3 details to support the
main point
 The last sentence should explain how this
main point proves the thesis statement.

Conclusion
Transition for the conclusion
 R-e-s-t-a-t-e (not copy and paste) the
thesis
 S-u-m u-p (not recopy) the 3 main points
 Add a clincher (the last thought on your
topic that you want your audience to think
about) that’s related to your grabber and
the topic.


smoothly, and at the same time allows the reader to follow more
