Research paper has become so much a part of
the academic scene that the student often
loses sight of its primary function.
The research paper requires the utilisation of
outside sources, laboratory experimentation,
statistical analysis, and any and all other
means which enable the researcher to search
out the solution to the problem which he has
set for himself and to present this knowledge
in a well-written, coherent paper to a reading
audience.
REASON FOR RESEARCH PAPER
• 1. The research paper is supposed to make one an
authority on some minute phase of an overall topic.
• 2. It should incorporate an exhaustive search of any
material that has been written on this given topic.
• 3. The research should only be undertaken by the
student who has already shown some interest in the
subject to be researched.
• 4. The research paper affords the student the
wonderful opportunity to become aware of different
aspects of the subject under study.
• 5. In a sense, it enables the student to move into
tangential areas, to increase his knowledge, to sharpen
his insights, and, perhaps, to make new discoveries.
