Third Sunday of Saint Luke. On this day, we commemorate James the Apostle, son
of Alphaeos; Andronicos and his wife Athanasia of Egypt; Poplia the Confessor, of
Antioch; and the Venerable Patriarch Abraham and his nephew, Lot.
Dear Sunday School Parents and Grandparents,
I’d like to meet with all our Sunday School children TODAY, right after
receiving Holy Antidoron. It’s very important to meet not just our children, but also to
meet the parents and grandparents. I’d like to share with you all what we are looking
to do to enrich your family’s lives. So, please plan to meet with me after Church, in
the Church pews. Bring all good questions and know our visit won’t take a long time,
but it’s great to have quality time.

Today, in honor of National Choir Recognition week, our Community will
honour our Choir with a Sunday brunch. All are invited to join, partake, and express
our gratitude to our Choir and its august history of dedication and leadership.

Coffee Hour
TODAY, lunch/coffee hour will be hosted in honor of our Choir.
Sunday, October 16th, Philoptochos will host a luncheon for the benefit of cancer
fund. Coffee hour will follow, hosted by Demetrios and Roula Pantelis in honor of family
members nameday for Saint Demetrios and grandson Louka.
GREEK SCHOOL – SUNDAY SCHOOL
Registrations are welcome! IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE
Because of beginning construction for our new elevator, access to the front entrance
will be blocked and will not be usable.
Starting immediately (Tuesday 09/20/2016), Greek school access will be from
the rear of the church and directly into the church hall and classrooms. As a safety
procedure, cars will not be allowed in the rear of the church when children are
entering and exiting. Parents can use the parking lots on the side of the church or in
the front of the church. Thank you for your attention and cooperation for this important
safety issue.

For all Youth Families: there are registration forms by the candle area –Narthex, to pick up
on your way out. Please register your children for their respectively-aged Groups.
Harvest Dance Event
You are invited to our Annual Fall Harvest Event!
Please join us for an evening filled with music, food, games and prizes!
The night will include games like Bobbing for Donuts,
"Eye and Spoon" Race, a Pumpkin Hunt, Piñata Fun, and more!
Kids in costume get a door prize but no scary ones please!

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to the beginning construction of our new elevator,
access to our church’s hall downstairs for coffee hour will be INSIDE through the stair case
next to the Holy Altar, adjacent to the chanters’ stand, or OUTSIDE through the main
entrance, around the parking lot to the back entrance.
HOPE CHILDREN, AGES 3-7 It’s time to gather the children, ages 3-7! Our HOPE
group is a ministry at Saint Constantine and Helen that provides an opportunity for
children to meet, socialize, and interact with one another through monthly events. There is
no annual registration fee to join HOPE; you just attend and pay the small fee for the
activities you are interested in!
The events for the next few months are listed below. Please consider getting your
kids involved in HOPE this year. The activities are geared to bring the youth of Saints
Constantine and Helen together in a fun and educational way while forming a sense of
belonging to our parish. Please reach out to the HOPE advisors (contact info below) for
additional information!
October: Bake Sale; Halloween Party hosted by GOYA
November: PB&J; Pizza, bible and jammies (& ice cream!)
December: Gingerbread decoration, learn Christmas Hymn and learn about Christ
being the greatest gift we receive on Christmas from Father Samaras.

Choir
Our Choir has resumed its participation of our Sunday ecclesiastical services.
Rehearsals will commenced, every Sunday, following the social coffee hour, except when
there is a conflict. For further information, please contact the Choir Director, Leo Michaels.

Saint Paul's Second Letter to the Corinthians 6:1-10
The Lord will give strength to his people.Bring to the Lord, O sons of God, bring to the
Lord honor and glory.
BRETHREN, working together with him, then, we entreat you not to accept the
grace of God in vain. For he says, "At the acceptable time I have listened to you, and helped
you on the day of salvation." Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of
salvation. We put no obstacle in any one's way, so that no fault may be found with our
ministry, but as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: through great
endurance, in afflictions, hardships, calamities, beatings, imprisonments, tumults, labors,
watching, hunger; by purity, knowledge, forbearance, kindness, the Holy Spirit, genuine
love, truthful speech, and the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness for the right
hand and for the left; in honor and dishonor, in ill repute and good repute. We are treated as
impostors, and yet are true; as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold we live;
as punished, and yet not killed; as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many
rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

At that time, Jesus went to a city called Nain, and his disciples and a great crowd
went with him. As he drew near to the gate of the city, behold, a man who had died was
being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a large crowd from
the city was with her. And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to
her, "Do not weep." And he came and touched the bier, and the bearers stood still. And he
said, "Young man, I say to you, arise." And the dead man sat up, and began to speak. And
he gave him to his mother. Fear seized them all; and they glorified God, saying, "A great
prophet has arisen among us!" and "God has visited his people!"

Σήµερα
Σήµερα, στο τέλος της Θείας Λειτουργίας, ο Πατήρ Σαµαράς καλεί όλα τα
παιδιά του κατηχητικού µετά των γονέων και παπούδων τους να παραµείνουν στη
εκκλησία για ένα σύντοµο διάλογο και συζήτηση για το πρόγραµµα του κατηχητικού
µας σχολείου.
Eπίσεις σήµερα, λόγω της Εθνικής Εβδοµάδος Αναγνώρισης Εκκλησιαστικής
Χορωδίας, θα τιµήσουµε τη χορωδία της εκκλησίας µας για την αφοσίωσή της, µε
µεσηµεριανό, ακολουθόντας τη Θεία Λειτουργία. Παρακαλούµε όλους να παραβρεθούν
στη τιµητική αυτή εορτή της χορωδίας µας.

Σήµερα προσφορά µεσηµεριανού και καφέ προς τιµή της χορωδίας µας.
Κυριακή, 16 Οκτωβρίου, προσφορά µεσηµεριανού από τη Φιλόπτωχο προς όφελος του
αντικαρκινικού ταµείου. Θα ακολουθήσει προσφορά κοινωνικού καφέ από τη οικογένεια
Δηµητρίου και Ρούλα Παντελή προς τη ονοµαστική εορτή µελών της οικογενειάς τους του
Αγίου Δηµητρίου και εγγονού τους Λουκά.

Ελληνικό Σχολείο – Κατηχητικό - Δεχόµαστε Εγγραφές
Προσοχή –Τρίτη, 20 Σεπτεµβρίου αρχίζει η κατασκευή του ασανσέρ της εκκλησίας.
Για λόγους ασφάλειας, η πρόσβαση των µαθητών στο ελληνικό σχολείο θα γίνετε από τη
πίσω είσοδο προς τις τάξεις. Η συνηθής µπροστινή είσοδος θα είναι κλειστή. Επίσεις, δεν
θα επιτρέποντε να περνάνε τα αυτοκίνητα στο πίσω µέρος του κτιρίου, τις ηµέρες του
ελληνικού σχολείου, Τρίτη και Πέµπτη. Η στάθµευση των αυτοκινήτων επιτρέπετε στους
χώρους µπροστά και δίπλα στη Εκκλησία.

Χορωδία
Η χορωδία µας έχει αρχίσει τα λειτουργικά καθήκοντά της. Εξασκήσεις έχουν
αρχίσει, ακολούθως του κοινωνικού καφέ κάθε Κυριακή, εκτός αν υπάρχει άλλη ακολουθία
στην εκκλησία. Για περισσότερες πληροφορίες έρχεσθε εις επαφήν µε τον χοράρχην Ηλίαν
Μιχαλάκην.

Κύριος ἰσχὺν τῷ λαῷ αὐτοῦ δώσει.
Ἐνέγκατε τῷ Κυρίῳ υἱοὶ Θεοῦ, ἐνέγκατε τῷ Κυρίῳ δόξαν καὶ τιµήν.
Ἀδελφοί, συνεργοῦντες δὲ καὶ παρακαλοῦµεν µὴ εἰς κενὸν τὴν χάριν τοῦ θεοῦ
δέξασθαι ὑµᾶς - λέγει γάρ, Καιρῷ δεκτῷ ἐπήκουσά σου, καὶ ἐν ἡµέρᾳ σωτηρίας ἐβοήθησά
σοι· ἰδού, νῦν καιρὸς εὐπρόσδεκτος, ἰδού, νῦν ἡµέρα σωτηρίας - µηδεµίαν ἐν µηδενὶ

οἱ µαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἱκανοὶ καὶ ὄχλος πολύς. ὡς δὲ ἤγγισε τῇ πύλῃ τῆς πόλεως, καὶ ἰδοὺ
ἐξεκοµίζετο τεθνηκὼς υἱὸς µονογενὴς τῇ µητρὶ αὐτοῦ, καὶ αὕτη ἦν χήρα, καὶ ὄχλος τῆς
πόλεως ἱκανὸς ἦν σὺν αὐτῇ. καὶ ἰδὼν αὐτὴν ὁ Κύριος ἐσπλαγχνίσθη ἐπ᾿ αὐτῇ καὶ εἶπεν
αὐτῇ· µὴ κλαῖε· καὶ προσελθὼν ἥψατο τῆς σοροῦ, οἱ δὲ βαστάζοντες ἔστησαν, καὶ εἶπε·
νεανίσκε, σοὶ λέγω, ἐγέρθητι. καὶ ἀνεκάθισεν ὁ νεκρὸς καὶ ἤρξατο λαλεῖν, καὶ ἔδωκεν
αὐτὸν τῇ µητρὶ αὐτοῦ. ἔλαβε δὲ φόβος πάντας καὶ ἐδόξαζον τὸν Θεόν, λέγοντες ὅτι
προφήτης µέγας ἐγήγερται ἐν ἡµῖν, καὶ ὅτι ἐπεσκέψατο ὁ Θεὸς τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ. καὶ ἐξῆλθεν
