Step 1– Transfer Credits
• ONE Year before transfer credits are set in
concrete.
• Take care of issues THIS semester!!!
• Review Transfer Evaluation
• If there is an issue, get it addressed
• If you think you’re entitled to more, file an appeal
• There is no grace period

• We strongly advise you to complete:
IT Foundation courses (100 & some 200-level) first
IT Core courses (200 & some 300-level) then,
IT Concentration courses (300 & 400-level) then,
Senior Capstone courses (400-level)
Many courses have prerequisites!
• Not tied to catalog year, rather, the term course is taken!

• Manage your time!
– Each course will require several hours per week
beyond lectures and labs
– Be realistic about courses you can complete
– Register early. Class fill quickly.
– Plan for traffic on Fairfax & getting to Prince William
• Ask for HELP from Peer Advisors & Faculty!

VCCS Guaranteed Admissions Agreement
– VCCS with AA, AS, or AAS
– GPA = 2.85 or better at application and graduation
• If you meet all requirements, receive a waiver of
lower-level GenEd requirements
• Important to make sure final transcript is recorded!!!

• 1 Credit Courses IT193, 194, 196
– Self-paced, online
– Credit for IT106, 213, 214

• Take IT106, 213 and 214 at Mason

• Successful completion of prerequisite is ‘C’ or better
• Three Strikes… you’re OUT!
– If you get a ‘C-’ or lower you have not met the
prerequisite
– 3rd attempt must have AIT approval
