Approaches--- Quality Seed


Identification and delineation of potential regions/agencies
for quality seed production.
SAUs to produce pulses seeds on 1/10th of their farm.
 Revamping seed chain: breeder seed indent and inclusion
of new varieties.
 Strengthening participatory seed production/seed village.
 Encouraging bye back of seed produced through block
demonstrations (Ensuring liquidity to producing agencies).
 Arrangement of quality seed for block demonstrations- Agencies for seed supply to be identified
Approaches--- Crop Management


Mechanism for ensuring availability of farm implements
like ridge furrow makers through custom hiring.
At least one Ridge & Furrow maker in each village having
more than 100 ha area under pulses

Seed treatment to be made mandatory for all kind of
seeds.

Timely supply of micronutrients and plant protection
chemicals through nearby ‘Krishi Raksha Ikai’ in
target districts.
• Sprinkler irrigation facilities need to be created.
Approaches--- Policy support

Monitoring of seed chain and ensuring
availability of quality seeds of recommended
varieties.

Incentive to pulses growers

Creation of storage and market facilities at block
level.

Reasonable MSP and procurement by Govt.
agencies.
