DEPARTMENT
 The Department has a vision for improving the quality of
life at micro and macro level of society with emphasis on
promoting professionalism among students.
 The Department envisages to promote cognitive and
effective learning among students for technology transport
within the culturally relevant conditions, as well as to
strengthen teaching, extension and research linkages

The Concern
 India ranked at 112 position in world based on CDI
(Global Survey Report, 2012)
 42 percent children in India are under weight
 58 percent children having height lesser than
average height
 70 percent women and children are suffering from
deficiency of Fe, Zn, Ca, I, Mg and Vit. A

 Govt. of India has identified 100 districts across
the country, where the malnutrition is a serious
problem.

SCHEME
Project Title: “Post harvest and value added
food products development” at the Center of
Excellence under Nutri-Farm scheme.
To create awareness among people about effects
of malnutrition and benefits of maize for
eradicating it.
To encourage production of maize specially
HQPM varieties.
To develop Nutri-Rich recipes that are area
specific and children friendly and to popularize
QPM maize and maize based products through
universities and government mechanisms.
To attract entrepreneurs for small-scale industries
and to impart training to entrepreneurs for maize
based recipes and its marketing.

O All the Deputy Directors, Agriculture, of the state have
been requested to disseminate information on the COE
through extension functionaries to all the beneficiaries
especially
the
entrepreneurs

rural
agro
based
industries.

the district industries officers have also been
requested to give the information across the rural
industries
O Electronic channels especially Sahara India and India
News have been approached to give slot for advertisement
of the programme.

DEVELOPED RECIPES BASED ON MAIZE
• Maize is nutriceous cereal crop, which possess carbohydrate,
protein and oil.
• Because to its quality and nutrient value, it is popular not only
among poor but among the rich as well, it can play a vital role to
overcome malnutrition among children and women.
• Therefore, maize based recipes, which are easy to make and
consume, and are child and women friendly, have been developed
and is being popularize through every possible means by the
centre of excellence, SHIATS, Allahabad.

TRAINING FOR ENTREPRENEURS
Centre of excellence is open for all such as businessman, commercial
organization, urban and rural entrepreneurs and others who are
interested in adopting maize based recipes and to popularize and
marketing this.
For this, university is imparting 10 days training which includes
following topics –

 Crop production
 Business management
 Food product manufacture
 Machineries & Equipment
 Publicity
