SAFARI 2000 Open Data Policy
 Provide timely access to data while protecting the
intellectual property rights of students and
investigators, and giving credit to data originators
 SAFARI 2000 participants are expected to register
their metadata in Mercury
 SAFARI 2000 data will be made available project
participants as soon as possible and to the public
by June 30, 2003
 Project data will be archived at the regional data
center and at the ORNL DAAC or other DAAC
(e.g., Langley or Goddard DAACs)

 By June 30, 2003, all S2K investigators need to make
their data available to the public
 S2K Leadership needs to decide which data sets should
be archived at NASA DAACs and at the regional data
center

Data sets selected have to be thoroughly documented
(understandable 20 years from now)
