REDATAM WebServer

Processing census data on line (via intranet or internet)
has several advantages:
 Complete control of access (variables, geographical
level, number of cases in cells) by NSO
 Intranet: speed of data processing depends on the
server and not of the PC of the user
 If there are changes in the data file, only the file on the
server has to be replaced
 Allows to create a databank from different sources
 No access to microdata (copying is not possible)
 Control of users

APPLICATIONS
WITH AGGREGATED DATA
using Redatam+SP Xplan
and the
Redatam+SP WebServer

CELADE – Population Division, ECLAC
Redatam xPlan Applications
 Special applications can be developed by data
owners to disseminate their data (for example on
CDs) using microdata or aggregated data.
 Easy and friendly interface; without programming.
 Options of tabulations and processes are defined
by the user
 Allows to process predefined indicators. Allow for
graphing and thematic mapping.
 Several applications have been undertaken with
Census data, vital statistics, industrial census,
agricultural census, trade statistics.

Final comments
New Applications are constantly being developed to facilitate
processing and analysis stand alone or on-line processing
thru the web.
Further development of the software is mainly based on the
feedback of users
Further a new multiplatform version is currently under
development (an Alfa version was presented late 2005 to
national counterparts)
Applications developed by one country can be used
afterwards by others (promoting national cooperation)
