domestic violence accounts for 17% of violent crime
nationally
2 women every week die as a result of domestic violence
1 in 4 women experience domestic violence at some point
in their lives
1 incident is reported to the police every minute
DV has the highest rate of repeat victimisation
Home office research shows that domestic homicide
accounts for 35% of all murders
TVCP – work streams

TVCP aims to reduce violent crime nationally by
– Tackling alcohol fueled violence in the night time economy
– Tackling domestic violence






Data Requirements
3 areas to focus on were
– Initial investigation at point of call taker
– enhanced evidence gathering at scenes - use of DVEC car
– targeting of prolific DV offenders

In addition to this

At 44% of incidents an offence was recorded
66% of offences (29 % of all incidents) result in an arrest
46% of arrests (13% of all incidents) result in a sanction
detection
Arrest rate when offender present: 92%
