BroilerOpt Growth Model
Getting Started
• Click on Current Calc. and get the cost of the average
bird in a flock for your target – here live weight.
BroilerOpt Growth Model
Getting Started
• Choose another target to get other insights. You can
choose a set feed intake, flock age or flock live weight.
BroilerOpt Growth Model
Getting Started
• If you have calibrated a mixed flock, you can look at the
effect of the diet on the males and females, individually.
Set the target to Flock Age to get the same age birds
and the male weights are calculated
BroilerOpt Growth Model
Getting Started
• Calibration is simple and accurate. Enter your diet
nutrients, weight of feed and flock average weight, feed
conversion and age. Click Calibrate and the system is set
to your conditions. You can set temperatures if needed.
BroilerOpt Growth Model
Getting Started
• When you name the complex, you can set your values
and specify the breed so calibration is breed sensitive.
BroilerOpt Growth Model
Getting Started
• The model reports how accurately it could match your
feed conversion and you can now save the calibration.
Save your diets too.
BroilerOpt Growth Model
Getting Started
• Now, you can make changes in energy, amino acids and
protein, or feed weights fed and see the impact on feed
conversion and cost and carcass.
BroilerOpt Growth Model
Getting Started
• It stores the live weights of both sexes if a mixed flock and average
carcass composition by age for 10 days up to the final weight.
BroilerOpt Growth Model

• Optimization is Easy, set minimums and maximums you
are comfortable with and let it go.
BroilerOpt Growth Model
Getting Started
• Shows Initial and Optimum and can show carcass
composition.
BroilerOpt Growth Model
Getting Started
• You can set Least Cost Information. Click on Show
Least Cost and then go diet by diet over the values.
Here we are setting
the restriction on fat
to 3 % on diet 1.
We will set the
restrictions on diets
2 and 3 to 3 % and
see the effect on
cost.
BroilerOpt Growth Model
Getting Started
• Now, current calc. shows that with the fat restriction,
costs are up from 0.8982. No other change was made.
BroilerOpt Growth Model
Getting Started
• We can run the optimizer again and find what changes in
feeding strategy we should consider with the limit on fat
addition.
The third diet
changes with a
savings of
about 0.018
cents per bird
or $18,000 per
Million birds.

Getting Started
• When optimizing you can choose to optimize to a set feed to gain
value, or set a maximum and find the least expensive feeding program
to meet or beat that feed to gain. Often, when first starting out,
reducing feed conversion by 3 or 4 points is a good way to test the
model. Modest savings but an improvement in feed conversion is a
low risk way to test the accuracy of BroilerOpt.
BroilerOpt Growth Model
Getting Started
• You can compare the impact of the new feeding program
on carcass composition or set the optimizer to maximize
breast meat, for example. You can do this comparison
by clicking between Current Calculation and Optimized
Values.
BroilerOpt Growth Model
Getting Started
• Easy to use, easy to calibrate.
• Click of a button transfer of Brill Least Cost
Information (matrix, restrictions and prices) after
using the setup routine.
• Transfer by clipboard for other LP systems.
• Savings on feed cost and peace of mind.
Knowing what feed conversion should be, what
feed costs will be and what is the best that can
be done with the current costs are the highest
values that BroilerOpt brings to the Nutritionist.
