My Life
EDUCATION

Went to Infant Schools in Keighley, West Yorkshire
then secondary School in Worsley, Manchester.

Gained two GCE’O’level passes plus seven CSE
grade1 passes.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Petrol Pump Attendant for 12 months 1976-8

Direct Sales Person progressing to Sales Manager(Home
Insulation) for 2 years from 1978-80


Went on to further education at Eccles College,
Manchester and gained a GCE’A level and 3 more
GCE’O’levels.


My ambitions of becoming a pilot in the RAF were
dashed soon after leaving college when I failed my
entrance medical from my ‘lazy eye’.

In 1991 I sat 2 Open College ‘B’ Unit courses at
Lancaster & Morecambe College

In 1996 I sat an Information Technology course at
Blackpool and The Fylde College




Entertainment Experience
In November 1980, I answered and advertisement in the
Swinton Journal, a weekly paper around Manchester, for a
trainee DJ. After a brief interview I began as a mobile DJ for
a small company playing music at weddings and birthday
parties etc. Initially this was for a bit of pocket money
alongside my retail management job for five years.
Following a relationship breakdown I used the experience to
pursue a full time career in DJ work and looked for a new
challenge!
I headed for the lively Spanish resort of Lloret de Mar on
Costa Brava to ask around the British owned fun pubs and
worked in several over the season of 1985 until October
when I returned to the UK and visited Morecambe to see my
grandma.
It was by chance that I chatted with a fellow DJ in
Morecambe and was offered some work locally and decided
to stay in the resort for a while. I was soon offered work in
several bars and nightclubs and my brief visit to Morecambe
has now lasted 21 years !
My boundaries expanded to include Blackpool and The Lakes
and I even managed to entertain overseas on several
occasions in Spain, Tenerife and Switzerland.

1988 Family Entertainments Organiser/DJ at La Colina, Torremolinos,
Spain then Hotel Oro Negro, Playa de las Americas, Tenerife for a Spanish
Entertainment Company
1989 – 2000 Promotional Entertainer/DJ for Thwaites Brewery,
Blackburn with over 500 performances nationwide
1989 – 90 Resident DJ at Kings Arms seafront pub in Morecambe
1990 Seasonal Family Entertainer DJ at Stanwix Park Holiday Centre,

was co host at the Tower World Opening Command Performance in
the presence of Diana Princess of Wales in 1992 and I entertained
children in the presence of HM The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh
during the Towers centenary celebrations in 1994.

During December 1997 and July 1998 I presented my own
daytime show on RSL Station 106.2 Splash FM for the months
duration from inside Blackpool Tower.
During the month of January 1999 I presented the breakfast
show on Kendal RSL station 107FM which following a petition to
the Radio Authority went on to become Lakeland Radio.
During January 2000 I presented some overnight shows on our
local ILR station 96.9 The Bay to North Lancashire and South
Cumbria.
I currently present the afternoon show on 102.8 Chorley FM
On Television………




In 2001 I appeared on LWT’s Barrymore ‘My Kind of People’
filmed at the Whitgift Centre, Croyden, Surrey.
In 2004 I had minor TV exposure in the first X Factor from a
couple of successful early rounds of the Leeds heats for
Talkback Thames.
In 2008 I made it through to the first televised round of
Talkback Thames’ Britain’s Got Talent filmed at The Opera
House, Blackpool in front of a full house and Simon Cowell,
Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan.
I 2009 I appear frequently in several background scenes of
Coronation Street filmed at Granada TV, Manchester.

Over the last twenty years since becoming a full time entertainer much has been
written about my antics and progression in our local publications The Morecambe
Visitor and its sister paper The Morecambe Guardian.
The Blackpool Evening Gazette also covered a lot of my work whilst based at
Blackpool Tower.
In 2003 I was given a two page centre feature in the Daily Mirror as the paper
celebrated its centenary and featured ordinary people in their employment asking
them how their job had changed over the years. I was interviewed at length about
the experiences of being a children's entertainer and how I combined the role with a
busy career of being a retail store manager. It also gave a potted history about my
life and experiences.

I have played a major role in fundraising and
charity liaison organising and fronting several
events.

I am studying a foundation degree I Digital Radio Production at AccRoss
College, Lancashire and Manchester School of Sound Recording
I continue as an Independent Childrens Entertainer/DJ here in the North West
entertaining children in South Cumbria and North Lancashire at 120+ birthday
parties every year.
I am appearing in a Summer Season as a holiday Family Entertainer based at
Stanwix Park Holiday Centre, Silloth on Solway, Cumbria until November 2009.
I do occasional TV extra work appearing on Coronation Street.
I also run a small marketing company specialising in overseas property sales
‘The One Stop Overseas Property Shop.com’ working with over 30 builders,
developers and overseas agents in 12 different countries.
Finally……..

HOBBIES AND INTERESTS
In my spare time I enjoy watching sport, gardening, travel and eating
out. On my travels I also enjoy practising my foreign languages –
Spanish,French and German.
AMBITIONS
I would love to further my limited success in TV and Radio.
I have recently become a property investor and would like to own a
£1m portfolio as soon as possible.
I would also like to combine all the skills I have gained over the years
to set up a dream business of a family fun and entertainment bar
complex somewhere in the sun and close to the beach!
