Title III Directors’ Spring Meeting Title III Evaluation/Monitoring Process and Next Steps May 7, 2009 Agenda Update on Title III Evaluation/Monitoring Process - Roberto Saenz Panel discussion on ongoing self-study and program improvement - Sandy Hagman Walled Lake - Jackie Moase-Burke Oakland Schools 2 MDE Responsibility Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is responsible for monitoring all ELL/Immigrant program performance to ensure compliance under the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). 3 Title III Evaluation/Monitoring Process Update Designed and implemented Evaluation/Monitoring process Conducted training on process via a series of webinars Disseminated Self Evaluation Tool to individual LEA’s and consortiums for completion by March 13, 2009 Designed and developed Evaluation/Monitoring Risk Factor Tool to determine type of review Created standard final report format for documenting individual district reviews 4 Progress To Date 230 Self Assessment Tools (SATs) have been submitted to MDE, Office of School Improvement (OSI) . All SATs received have been analyzed based on risk factor criteria and categorized into desk/telephone or on-site reviews.
