Goal 1
Turning fear into an
advantage



Winning an audience has benefits that
are better than fear
You can turn fear into positive energy
if you can control it
To help control fear, do breathing
techniques.
Breathing Techniques
– Practicing the vowel sounds “ah,” “eh,” “ee,”
“aw,” and “ooh.”

PATAKA PETEKE PITIKI PETEKE PATAKA
PAWTAWKAW POOTOOKOO PAWTAWKAW PATAKA
– Same vowel sounds, but is more complicated to
say and requires more practice. It is by the
same token more effective, however.

MANALA THAVAZA MENELE THEVEZE
MINILI THIVIZI MELE THEVEZE MANALA THAVAZA
MAWNAWLAW THAWVAWZAW MOONOOLOO
THOOVOOZOO MAWNAWLAWTHAWVAWZAW

Goal 2
Acting is what you do

We all act in life
– We all play different roles, either as a son
or daughter, or a friend or sibling.
– If you are awake, you are acting.

When we have to speak to an
audience, we must assume the role of
a public speaker, and do our best to
seem real and captivate the audience.
Tips on Speeches




Never write the whole speech out
Just tell your story
Never “wing” it
Prepare and practice

Some Concluding Words
About Words






Remember – never write a speech.
Not only is acting is what you do, but it is what you do.
Fear has certain advantages, and if you can control your fear, it
can become positive energy for your presentation.
Use the step-by-step, detailed guides for preparing your speech
adequately and for preparing a persuasive speech that are
included in your packet.
Please take a look at your packet – there are even more details
that will help you.
As Winston Churchill said, “Now, this is not the
end. It is not even the beginning of the end.
But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”
