You are invited on a Guided Tour of Jacques Littlefield’s Military Vehicle Collection 16 May 2009, Saturday – 11:00 am

The Pony Tracks Ranch (located above Portola Valley) is the private estate of Jacques Littlefield, a Stanford grad and retired engineer. He built a facility to restore these vehicles and hired a staff of specialists to do the work. Mr. Littlefie ld’s collection is known as the

Military Vehicle Technology Foundation

– it includes about 200 systems from WWI to the 1980s. Domestic and foreign combat vehicles such as tanks, armored cars, self-propelled artillery and other technically interesting mobile platforms are the focus of the collection. The collection includes a ZSU-23-4, two German Leopards, a perfectly restored T-72, Pt 76, STUG III, 2S1, and other systems from the modern battlefield, plus many historic vehicles from WWII, Korea and other conflicts - some with battle damage. In addition, there are towed artillery, antitank and antiaircraft guns --- military support equipment, inert ordnance, and accessories round out the collection.

The Foundation oversees one of the largest and most significant collections of historical military vehicles in the world. Their goal is to acquire, restore, and interpret the historical significance of 20 th and 21 st century military vehicles. . Directions: Take Hwy 280 to Alpine Rd, exit near the big dish antenna west of Stanford Univ. Travel West on Alpine Rd about 1km to the village of Portola Valley. The Shell gas stn is the 1 st thing in town. Meet at 10:30 am in the pkg lot behind the Shell stn. A coffee shop which is part of this complex - an equally excellent deli is available for anybody needing lunch. After meeting, Richard Pearce – will lead us to the display. Depart this location at 10:45 am and convoy to Pony Track Ranch, 495 Old Spanish Trail, Portola Valley. (MapQuest this Address!) The road is exceptionally steep in places. Cameras are encouraged. Family members and friends are welcome. Tours usually last about 2-3 hours and will include the 3 main museum buildings plus the shop where vehicles are restored.
