GADCHIROLI' District was carved out on the 26 th of August 1982 by the
Division of erstwhile Chandrapur District. Gadchiroli district is well known for
Naxalite activities. Population of the District is 9,70,294. SC & ST population in the
district is 1,08,824 & 3,71,696 ( As per 2001 census). The literacy rate of district is
60% ( As per 2001 census).
