In France, they say “Bonne Annee”.
In German, it’s “Prosit Neujahr”.
In Portuguese, it’s “Feliz Ano Novo”.
•In Russian, you say “S Novim Godom”.
•In Spanish, they say “Feliz Ano Nuevo”.
•In Italian, it is “Buon Capodanno”.
What Do They Do in China?
• In China, they have a parade to bring good
luck.
• They believe that putting firecrackers on
their houses wards off evil sprits.
•They clean their houses to get rid of last
year’s bad luck.
•They believe that tangerines are lucky, but
odd numbers are unlucky!
What Do They Do In Europe?
• In Europe, the New Year is a time for
fortune-telling and superstition.
• In some countries, they ring bells on New
Year’s Day.
• Visitors bring gifts to insure the owner has
plenty of what the visitor brings.
• They have a custom to make noise in the
New Year.
How Is It Celebrated In France?
• The French New Year used to be on
March 25.
• Dinner parties are thrown for the entire
family.
•They exchange gifts and greeting cards.
•They also send fake gifts as jokes.
