In March 2005:

EU contribution to signed contracts totalled €5.6 billion

Participations in signed contracts totalled 23,000

Excluding Mobility measures, each FP6 contract had double
the number of partners of an average FP5 contract and
received 3 times as much EU contribution

Higher education institutions have increased their
participation rate by 7%

Business enterprise sector participation is down 5%
compared with FP5

Establishing a sound scientific & technical basis
in order to accelerate practical developments for
the safer management of long-lived radioactive
waste, promoting safer, more resource-efficient
and competitive exploitation of nuclear energy
and ensuring a robust and socially acceptable
system of protection of man and the environment
against the effects of ionising radiation.
