A Personal Guide to Music
on the Web

#1 Introduction
Albert
I enjoy listening to all kinds
of music, but I usually like
listen to silent, smooth
music. That is ‘The New
Age Music' called by
people, and I like the music
played by piano. I think that
the reason why I like this
kind of music is influenced
by my child life.
I started to go to the piano academic after I heard
that if I go to the piano academic, I'll receive some
gift on my birthday, when I was a 8 years old. The
Classical music turned on the radio by teacher for 6
years affects me to like that kinds of music. So even
now there are a lot of songs such as 'new age music'
in my MP3 player. In addition to I like to sing a song,
too. I feel songs by heart through the words of the
song and the melody when I sing a song, and
sometimes stresses are healed by shouting. So I sang
a song with my friends on the stage at my high school
festival.
Ultimately, music is part of my life.

When I was ten years old, I was impressed by Korean
Classic guitarist Lee Byung Woo's Guitar play. So I played
the Classic guitar. And I also played the piano like any other
Korean kids did. It help for my Musical development.
In 1999, around the Sunset, I saw MTV with playing the
classic guitar. Boring dance music ended, suddenly
AC/DC's 'Highway to Hell' live concert was turned on.
AC/DC music ended, Aero Smith's music video was turned
on. I was shocked, I discovered new guitar world. I
immediately 'throw my classic guitar', withdrew my save
money. I went to guitar shop and bought electric guitar. It
was Gibson SG copy model played by AC/DC's guitarist
Angus Young. But my father was very angry because
Korean father dislike his son play the electric guitar. But I
didn't stop playing the guitar. Few month later, I saw Jimi
Hendrix's Woodstock festival by video tape. This music
penetrated my music life, also my whole life. It whispered to
me, 'You were made for play the electric guitar.'. So I still
play the guitar.
I performed more than 50 concerts, and I’ve been
performing with professional musicians. Even though I
entered the business school, I still have musician's passion
in my heart. I am eager for the pray people can listen to my
guitar sound all the radio and TV.
I have seven guitars. One Classic guitar, two polk guitars,
and four electric guitars. My favorite guitar is Fender Strato
Caster. It different from other Strato Caster. Because it is
custom shop guitar, it made by Jhon Cage. He made Eric
Clapton's guitars and Jeff Beck's guitars. This guitar make
very clean and loud sound, so it can plays the Jimi
Hendrix's song very well. My guitar's nickname is 'FOXY', it
was inspired by Jimi Hendrix's song named 'Foxy Lady'.
Now I play the guitar with my band the Metaphor Dust. My
band plays Blues/Jazz music. I play the guitar and piano in
this band. Come to my concert with your friends!

Members - David Gilmour on electric guitar, Roger
Waters on base guitar, Nick Maison on drum, and
Rick Wright on keyboard.
In 1965, crazy musician Syd Barett made the Pink
Floyd. But he was addicted by drug, he went out the
band. His following member was David Gilmour. They
made very impressive music. In 1973, they released a
record 'Dark Side of the Moon', it smashed all the
world. It recorded Billboard chart 741 weeks. it is my
favorite record. It contain the Symbolism and
Metaphor about lunarcy, unconsciousness and the
truth. And this album also contain perfect
Blues/Psychedelic Rock style plays. I have many
metaphors with this record. I love it. In 1978, they
released a record 'the Wall'. It also smashed all the
world, but from this moment the Pink Floyd had been
collapsed. Roger Waters fired keyboardist Rick Wright.
In 1983, band was disbanded. The band was divided
two band. One is Roger Waters' Pink Floyd, the other
is original Pink Floyd. Two bands still play their music.
Jimi Hendrix
Jimi Hendrix was born in Washington, 1942. He is the
most revolutionary guitarist in the world. Since 1958, he
played the electric guitar. He discharged from military
service when he was 20 years old. He performed many
Rhythm&Blues bands. He made his band 'Jimi Hendrix
Experience'. He released first record 'Are you
experienced?' in 1966. It smashed all the guitarist, and he
suddenly got a great reputation. It was really impressive
music. This album contain many great song. the Purple
Haze's guitar sound like thunder. It is perfect psychedelic
song. I played this song more than a thousand times, and
I listen to this song more than ten thousands times. Most
of Blues/Rock guitarist adored him. After that moment, he
released two records 'Axis:Bold as love', 'Electric lady
land'. He had great many pans. All his music contains
psychedelic, blues, hard rock, and revolution. He made a
real rock guitar. Finally he performed the Wood Stock
festival. He had all the musical reputation. But he died by
drug addiction, in 1970. He was just 27 years old.
Many rock musicians missed his death. So many
musicians tributed his records. My own goal is to play the
guitar like Jimi Hendrix. Someday I must make tribute
record for him.
Yuki Kuramoto
Of course the best person who inform
'New Age Music' to the world is 'George
Winston', but 'Yuhki Kuramoto' has
influenced too. Also, we feel familiarity
because he is a Japanese and he has
been performing concert a 2 year. We
can hear Yuhki's music everywhere, in TV, movie, road
and so on. So there are a lot of music we heard a lot
whenever we listen to his music. ‘The New Age Music'
yuhki performing is the middle music between 'The
Classical Music' and 'The Rock Music'. So it has a
natural voice. His music has a power make our heart
smooth. The song I like most is 'Meditation'. Although I
like all about his, especially I love it. whenever I
listening to it I feel my heart being calm and it looks
like that I'm meditating. All is very good.
Lim Hyung Joo
Lim Hyung Joo do 'The Popera'.
In fact, It's little bit strange. The
word 'Popera'means 'pop‘ plus
'opera', that is get out of the
stiffness of the opera and sing like a 'pop'. Then it can
make natural and special music. Lim Hyung Joo is one
of the best popera musician around the world. Though
still he is young, he is recognized his musicality. He
performed his music at Carnegie Hall in New York,
2003. He is the first youngest man vocalist who
performed in Carnegie Hal. Also, he sang a national
anthem at an inaugural ceremony of president 'Loo Mu
Hyun' in 2003. It's his voice that i like most. He has the
best natural and pure voice that i've never heard. 'Fly
me to the moon' is my favorite song. It becomes his
voice well and delightful melody make my crazy. I want
to recommend his album as many as possible.

This music is performed in Brazil. We can imagine
soccer and samba if somebody say "Brazil". Samba is
very fascinating music as we thinking. A dance with
samba also makes us happy. Samba is not a melody
but a kinds of rhythm. 'Bossa Nova' is mixed with
Samba and American Jazz. It has beautiful melody and
classical beauty. A piano performance of Antonio
Carlos Jobim is enough to blow new beauty to Jazz
and many Jazz performers were interested in this
fusion music. This kind of music has exciting beat, so
we can have exciting feeling. But sometimes this kind
of music also has melancholy feeling. Because of its
passion Bossa Nova and Samba become my one of
the favorite musics.

Indian Sitar player Ravi Shankar taught George Harrison,
the guitarist of 'beatles'. So a guitar performance of
Harrison has indian's feeling. John McLaughlin's
Mahavishnu Orchestra made India music's
improvisation, and special rhythm on top of the music.
India music offer me great inspiration, because this
kind of music has novelty. Standard major scale, boring
blue note pentatonic scale, and swing rhythm can't be
used in this music. Real India Music is so hard to find,
but we can meet india music with fusion jazz.

Frankly speaking, I've never heard about chanson until I
conduct this assignment. Then I selected chanson
because it has different melody so I have special
feeling. Sometimes we can see 'chanson' in TV or
advertisement. So it's not unfamiliar to us.
The words of a song is very important in chanson. So I
think that if we learn a 'French', we will understand
about it a lot.
