• Learn to operate the computer and the
presentation equipment
• Become familiar with basic manipulations of
Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• We use three applications from the Office2000
family:
– Microsoft Word - general word processing, lab
reports, progress reports
– Microsoft Excel - to create spreadsheets, charts
graphs, calculations
– Microsoft PowerPoint - to create presentations,
display results in a creative way

• For this presentation, also include information about
yourself:
– Why did you choose the engineering/science field?
– What is your professional expectation in 10 years?
• Hand in a printout of your PowerPoint presentation to
your teaching assistant
Closing
• Be sure each team member has a turn using the
software
• The Microsoft office assistant (found under the
help toolbar) can give helpful pointers on how
to use the software
• Remember to submit all work electronically
