But is it
free?
Really?
Yes, and many libraries in
Oklahoma and now Texas
have been taking
advantage of this free
digitization.
Still too good to be true?
Oklahoma Correctional Industries is the commercial
arm of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.
They do non-destructive scanning of print
materials.
The free yearbook scanning is their foot in the
door—OCI offer other scanning & digitization
services for a fee.
So, what
do you get
for free?
OCI will pay
for shipping of
the yearbooks.
Turnaround
time is about
3-4 weeks.
Each page is scanned and saved as a
separate jpeg image, at 300 ppi.
After scanning, you get a DVD of the
scans. (And it’s easy to make more copies)
So, what’s
the value in
scanning
your
yearbooks?
1. Easy access
2. No more fear of razor
blades
3. Happier homecomings
4. Record of overlooked
history
