PARABOLE DELLA
MISERICORDIA –
QUESTA SETTIMANA!
La mostra 'parabole della
misericordia' sarà allestita in
parrocchia per due
settimane durante il mese
di maggio. Questa mostra è
una meditazione visiva sulla
travolgente misericordia di Dio. Siete invitati a
Lady’s. Le persone saranno invitate a recitare il
Rosario meditando su versetti della Scrittura a
proposito della misericordia. Potremmo definirli
torta … e buona conversazione insieme!
THE PARISH VOICE
The Parish Voice oggi! Si tratta della nostra rivista
parrocchiale che viene pubblicata tre volte
Parish Newsletter
all'anno.
Ringraziamo Veronica
Mancini di St Ambrose e Agnese
Calabrese di Our Lady’s, che con
generosità e talento prepara le
decorazioni floreali. La colletta di oggi andrà a
sostenere il costo dei fiori.
CONTEGGIO NAZIONALE
Il conteggio nazionale di
partecipazione alla messa in
tutta l'Australia avrà inizio
questo fine settimana. E’ la
quarta volta che la
conferenza episcopale
Australiana conduce il
conteggio a livello nazionale. Il conteggio è
costituito dal numero dei fedeli praticanti di
tutte le età in tutte le parrocchie e altri centri,
in tutta l'Australia, durante i primi quattro
weekend di maggio.
NO CRAFT GROUP QUESTO MESE
mese. Riprenderemo il primo venerdì di giugno.

DO NOT LET YOUR HEARTS BE TROUBLED
The Last Discourse of
John’s Gospel brings
the disciples face to
face with the reality of
Jesus’ absence. He is
returning to the Father
and will no longer be a
physical presence with
them. Jesus speaks of
his going and he promises that he will return
and will continue to be a presence in their
midst with the Father and the Spirit.
rosary from bead to bead, while meditating on
phrases from Scripture about mercy. We could
call it the Mysteries of Mercy. The times offered
for praying the ‘Walking’ Rosary are listed on
the insert in the newsletter today.
While these words are mysterious, it is
important to remember that they were written
around sixty years after the death of Jesus. The
continued existence of the community testifies
that Jesus’ promise has become a reality. This
is a community of believers who no longer
have the historical Jesus with them and yet
they continue to experience his Risen
presence. A generation who lived without ever
knowing the historical Jesus know through
their experience that God is still with them.

PEACE AND JUSTICE MEETING
The Parish Peace and Justice group will meet
on Thursday 5 May at 7.30pm in St.
Ambrose’s Parish House. We will be
considering current issues of peace and justice
including the proposed Government budget
and ongoing issues regarding Asylum seekers.
All are welcome.
PARABLES OF MERCY – THIS WEEK!
The ‘Parables of Mercy’
will be in the parish for two
weeks during the month of
May. This exhibition is a
visual meditation on the
overwhelming mercy of
God. You are invited to
take some time to pray with
eight images, alone or in a
group, and allow them to
speak to your experience of the mercy of God.
There is a booklet to accompany the
reflection. The times offered for praying
the Parables of Mercy are listed on the
insert in today’s newsletter. Come along at
the time that best suits you.
A ‘WALKING’ ROSARY
A whole new way of
praying the rosary is the
‘Walking Rosary’. This
will be a large candle-lit
‘rosary’ arranged on the
floor at St Ambrose’s
Community Centre, and (for a day) at Our
Lady’s. People will be invited to walk the
FIRST SUNDAY CUPPA
All are warmly invited to come
across to St Ambrose’s
Community Centre after the
10.30am Mass today to enjoy a
cuppa, with biscuits and cakes, and good
conversation together!
THE WISDOM OF OUR PARISH SCHOLARS
Keep the evening of Wednesday 25 May
free! 7.30 – 9.00pm. There will be the
opportunity to listen to the wisdom of three of
our parishioners who are working on their
doctorates in the areas of Church or
Spirituality:
Bryan Cussen is researching
Pope Paul III and Church Reform
in the Sixteenth Century.
Pope Paul III
Christopher Morris is
researching Fr Bruno Barnhart
and ‘Wisdom’ Christianity. Fr
Bruno was a Camaldolese monk
in the US who died last year.
Sr Marjetka Zlahtic is researching
Missiology and the New Evangelisation in the
Catholic Church.
Bryan, Chris and Marjetka will each give a 20
minute presentation and there will be time for
discussion and questions. The evening will
conclude with supper. All are welcome!
LITURGY PLANNING TEAMS
There is a sign-up sheet on the church table
today for those who would like to be part of a
team that meets with Fr
Michael to prepare the
liturgies for our Sunday
Masses. Each team would
meet perhaps once or
twice in the year depending on the number of
people who volunteer. The team would discuss
ideas for the focus of the Mass, the music, and
suggestions for Prayers of Intercession.
Interested? The teams will begin meeting after
Pentecost.
THE PARISH VOICE – OUT TODAY!
Take home your copy of The Parish
Voice today! This is our Parish
magazine that is published three
times a year. Read about recent
parish happenings and also get to
know the stories of some of our
parishioners. Take a copy for yourself and one
for a friend!
COLLECTION FOR FLOWERS
There will be a leaving collection
today for the altar flowers. We
thank Veronica Mancini at St
Ambrose’s and Agnese Calabrese
at Our Lady’s who both generously give of their
time and talent in decorating the flowers.
Today’s collection will go towards the cost of
the flowers.
MEALS IN SMALL GROUPS HAVE BEGUN
Thank you to Margaret
O’Neill who is hosting the first
of the parish dinners this
weekend. (Margaret plays the
flute at the 10.30am Mass).
Thank you also to Margaret
Duggan and Di and Henry Travers who will also
be hosting dinners over the next few weeks.
MASS COUNT BEGINS THIS WEEKEND
The national count of Mass attendance across
Australia will commence this weekend. This will
be the fourth time that the Australian Catholic
Bishops Conference has conducted the count at
a national level. The count consists of a simple
headcount of all attenders of
all ages in all parishes and
other Mass centres
throughout Australia over
the first four weekends in
May.
PARISH BOOK GROUP
The next meeting of the Parish Book Group will
be this Wednesday 4 May from 7.30 –
8.30pm in the Spirituality Room
at St Ambrose’s Community
Centre. We will be looking at
chapters 8 to 13 of ‘Tomorrow’s
Christian’ by Adrian B Smith.
NO CRAFT GROUP THIS MONTH
Due to the Parables of Mercy and the Walking
Rosary being set up in the Community Centre,
there will be no craft group this month. We will
resume on the first Friday of June.
PHOTOGRAPHS FOR NEW WEBSITE
Over the next few weeks, Paul
Mercieca will be taking photos at
various times and places throughout
the parish. These photos will be
displayed in the parish prior to being
chosen for our new parish website.
If you appear in any of the photos
and have concerns about your image
being used on the website, please see Fr
Michael.
AN ASYLUM SEEKER AND REFUGEE HUB
Cabrini, a Catholic, charitable organisation, is
pleased to announce the development of an
asylum seeker and refugee health hub located
on the ground floor at 503 Sydney Road,
Brunswick. Initial services will begin in May
2016 with GP clinics and specialist mental health
services. Eventually the service will include
chronic disease management, maternal and child
health and infectious disease management,
complemented with social, emotional and
spiritual support. Clustering these services in
one location will enhance access and facilitate a
person-centred, integrated approach to primary
and specialist care for this marginalised and
vulnerable group.
PARISH PRAYER FOCUS FOR MAY

illness and homelessness. May our Government
