SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR STUDENTS ATTENDING THE ACME (Advanced Construction Management and Economics) SEMINAR GRAZ WEEK 31.03 - 05.04.2016 MILANO WEEK 05.05 - 10.05.2016

The School of Architecture, Urban Planning, Construction Engineering IN REGARD OF the exchange agreement signed on November 21st, 2014 between Politecnico di Milano and Graz Technical University DECREE the issue of the selection procedure for the ACME Seminar (Advanced Construction Management and Economics) that will take place: - in TU Graz (Austria), from March 31st to April 5th, 2016; - in Politecnico di Milano (Campus Leonardo and Lecco), from May 5th, to May 10th, 2016 according to the attached agenda

Art. 1 - Recipients

This announcement is open to all the students attending the following MSc courses: - Ingegneria dei Sistemi Edilizi (Ita) (Building Engineering) - Building and Architectural Engineering (Eng) - Management of Built Environment (Eng) - Ingegneria Edile – Architettura (Ita) (Building Engineering/Architecture)

Art. 2 - Description

The ACME Seminar is an international knowledge exchange course beween the Politecnico di Milano and the Graz Technical University. The course aims to familiarize students with the all _elds of Construction Management and Building Economics. They will acquire advanced knowledge of international engineering duties with a special focus on Austrian and Italian construction principles. Specific knowledge and vocabulary of construction management, concepts, cost estimation, pricing, forms of compensation, basics of pricing, organisation, controlling, project administration will be taught and for a further understanding, the lectures will be combined with field studies and site visits. Furthermore a deeper insight into topics as BIM, integrated building systems, aquisition and competition, tendering, general conditions of contract will be given.

Art. 3 – Submission of the application

The application form, with the above mentioned documents, either in Italian or English, should be strictly submitted in electronic version (.pdf) to the following e-mail address: [email protected] within February 15th, 2016 at 6.00 pm.

Art. 4 – Requirements for participation and selection procedure

A Selection Commitee will select a maximum of 16 candidates (students), preferably 4 for each MSc course, establishing a shortlist to be used in case the number of candidates will be higher than available places. The Selection Commitee will be composed by: - Dean of the School of Architecture, Urban Planning, Construction Engineering - 1 professor from the-Ingegneria dei Sistemi Edilizi (Ita) (Building Engineering) course; - 1 professor from the Building and Architectural Engineering (Eng) course; - 1 professor from the Management of Built Environment (Eng) course; - 1 professor from the Ingegneria Edile – Architettura (Ita) (Building Engineering/ Architecture) course. The Selection Commitee will select the candidates, defining a shortlist, based on their: - CVs - credits and weighted average of marks, regularly registered by the deadline of this call, that will be extracted from the digital archive of Politecnico di Milano; - cover letter all requested documents must be enclosed to the application form. An advertisment with the shortlist of the selected students will be published on the website of the School AUIC within February 19th, 2016. Selected students will be promptly informed by e-mail and they have to confirm their attendance within February 26th, 2016 at 1.00 pm, and within the same deadline provide a € 75,00 flat-rate contribution for travel and lodging in Graz, following the procedures that will be reported on the School’s website. If a selected student will not confirm his/her participation and will not deposit the flat-rate contribution within the deadline, he/she will be excluded, and he/she will be replaced by the first of the excluded students. Attendance to the two weeks of the seminar is mandatory, 3CFU will be assigned to the students of the Politecnico di Milano in place of the internship ones or in excess. Politecnico di Milano will support for their students travel expenses to Graz, by bus and/or by train and accomodation costs, in hostel or hotel.
