100TH CENTENARY OF THE LAYING OF THE
CORNERSTONE /CENTENARIO DELLA POSA

In September of 1914,
the corner-stone of our
present church was
solemnly laid by His
Grace, Archbishop Neil
McNeil.
Join us today at the
11:30 am Mass as we
commemorate
the
100th Anniversary of
this event. The Mass
will be celebrated by
His Excellency, Bishop
Wayne Kirkpatrick.
Following the Mass,
there
will
be
a
reception in the Parish
Hall. Former parishioners are welcome to attend and
celebrate with us as we mark another milestone in our
history!
Nel settembre del 1914, la pietra angolare dell’attuale Chiesa
fu solennemente posta da Sua Grazia, l’Arcivescovo Neil
McNeil.
Oggi domenica, venite a celebrare con noi la Santa Messa
delle 11:30 per commemorare insieme il centesimo
anniversario di tale evento storico. La Santa Messa sarà
presieduta da Sua Eccellenza, Mons. Wayne Kirkpatrick.
Dopo la Messa, ci sarà un ricevimento nella Sala della
Parrocchia. Coloro che nel passato sono stati parrocchiani
della nostra Chiesa sono alquanto benvenuti a celebrare con
noi il segnare di un’ulteriore pietra miliare nella nostra storia!

Every year, the Bishops of Canada make an appeal for
financial assistance to support its work through the Collection
for the Needs of the Church in Canada. The Collection will
be held in parishes across the country today. Thank you for
your generosity!
Ogni anno, I Vescovi del Canada fanno un appello per
l’assistenza finanziaria, per sostenere il loro lavoro,
attraverso la raccolta per le necessita` della Chiesa in
Canada. Oggi si terra` la raccolta nelle parrocchie.

AROUND THE PARISH – IN PARROCCHIA
On Saturday October 4th at the 5:00 pm Mass we will
celebrate the solemn profession of two new members of the
Secular Franciscan Order. The Secular Franciscans are a
group of lay men and women dedicated to living the
Franciscan Spirituality in the lay state. Come join us as we
celebrate this special day. Light refreshments will be served
in the hall after the Mass.

si celebrerà la solenne professione di due nuovi membri del
ordine Francescano Secolare. I Francescani Secolari sono
un gruppo di laici, uomini e donne, impegnati a vivere
secondo la Spiritualità Francescana nel loro stato laico.
Venite a celebrare con noi questa giornata speciale. Dopo la
Santa Messa seguirà un piccolo rinfresco nella Sala della
Parrocchia.
ST FRANCIS – BLESSING OF ANIMALS
Saturday October 4th at 3.30 pm

feathered or other pets for a special
blessing for animals that will be
given at our parish of St Francis of
Assisi! – we will meet on the south
lawn of the church. (ONLY in case of
rain on Sat afternoon we will provide
a rain date at 10:30 am the next day.) NB This event is open
to non-parishioners – all are welcome.

ST FRANCIS OF ASSISI CONFERENCE
The weeks before Thanksgiving and
Christmas are our busiest times of the
year, with requests for visits increasing
tenfold. Please be generous to help us
make it through these busy seasons
and be able to provide the poor with
what they need.
During the month of October we are
holding a food drive. Often our neighbours in need have
empty cupboards when we visit. A food drive will enable us to
directly provide the poor with immediate groceries on our
visits. Please bring in non-perishable items. These can be
placed inside the church at the front of the statue of St
Francis.
Examples include pasta, rice, tuna, chickpeas, canned pasta
sauce, soup, canned fruits and vegetables, tea, coffee,
peanut butter etc. Even personal care items like toothpaste,
shampoo, toothbrushes and soap are appreciated and are
needed. Your generosity makes a difference! Thank you!
Le settimane precedenti al Giorno del Ringraziamento e al
Natale rappresentano il periodo più impegnativo dell’anno,
quando le richieste per visite aumentano considerevolmente.
Ricorriamo dunque alla vostra generosità per darci una mano
nel offrire ciò che occorre ai nostri più bisognosi durante
questo periodo particolare.
Durante il mese di ottobre avrà luogo una raccolta di cibo.
Spesso quando visitiamo i nostri vicini più bisognosi troviamo
gli scaffali vuoti. La raccolta di cibo ci permette di fornire dei
generi alimentari direttamente alle persone in difficoltà che
visitiamo. Chiediamo gentilmente per donazioni di cibi non
deperibili come ad esempio pasta, riso, tonno, legumi, sughi,
pelati, zuppe, frutta in conserva, verdura in scatole, te`,
caffe`, burro d’arachidi ecc. Occorrono e sono sempre ben
graditi anche prodotti per la cura personale come ad esempio
dentifricio, shampoo, spazzolini da denti e sapone. La vostra
generosità può fare davvero una differenza. Grazie.
