Economic Challenges Affecting Transfer
At the CCC
• Over $800 million in cuts since 2008-09 and 60,000 course section reductions these
last 3 years;
• As a result, students who can’t get their classes can’t transfer on time, thus stay longer
and take more units
At the CSU
• State support for the CSU has been cut by almost $1 billion or 35% over the past 18
months
•
The CSU will continue to focus on authentic access for students
At the UC
• UC sustained $750M in cuts for 2011-12
•
As a result UC implemented cost reductions/efficiencies, tuition and fee increases, nonresident enrollment strategies
